If you love Sam Pritchard, you'll really enjoy him here. If you haven't met Sam yet, there's no better introduction. This series is superb but each book also stands well alone. An escape yarn that's well spun and fun with a hero who stands out by standing up for what's "right."Product details

Hidden Agenda A Sam Prichard Mystery Volume 11 David Archer 9781987987416 Books Reviews
Once again, Sam saved the damsel in distress. This novel had a lot of intricate parts that made up the story. Anyone that reads this story will not be disappointed. Keep the books coming.
The story begins when Sam gets a phone call from a young girl who tells him that her mom is missing and that she thinks something bad has happened to her. She tells him that her mother had told her that if anything bad happens to her she was to call Sam for help. It turns out that Sam was engaged to her mother for a short time many years ago. Her mom had told Heather not to tell the cops because they were involved in something very bad and she was trying to help a friend she works with who had evidence of the crime. The friend Marty was worried that those who did it were after him. Sam and his wife Indie tell Heather they will find out what’s going on and will find her mother. It is a fast paced easy to read story with a ticking clock ending. I’d give it five stars.

Modestly entertaining, but definitely not top tier mystery writing. Cardboard characters and predictable plot. Embarrassing construct involving a character from beyond providing clues to the intrepid private detective!
This was my third David Archer novel and it fell far short of my expectations. I am always surprised when I find typos or errors of fact in a novel. Two typos jumped out at me giving me the feeling this was a rush job. I don't know the Denver area so I cannot comment on facts.
Sam is supposed to be a very experienced investigator with a tremendous amount of law enforcement experience. At one point in the book he makes a rookie mistake, this mistake leads to getting someone "killed" and then, the family man, showed no remorse. This combination lost me.
Much better authors, in my opinion, are Robert Crais, Michael Connelly and John D. MacDonald. A couple other authors who are clever are Peter May and Tana French.
HIDDEN AGENDA. by David Archer. The 11th book in Sam Prichard series. Sam and Indie two PI who listen when the Mother says to take the next case. Little did they know it would be the daughter of his ex girlfriend. With instruction if her mother disappeared to come to Sam. This doesn't sound like an affair as the police think. A phone call that wasn't from Marty, telling him to back off. Another call to his friend a cop, telling him they were busy and hung up. Throw away phones, nothing on checking motels, are they together, or they are hiding in separate places. While Marty is waiting for a call from Tracy, not knowing she is in danger. A great plot, with humor, family, and a puzzling case to solve. All the ingredient for another good story by David Archer.
I accidentally bought this second Archer book along with Ghost. So I read it to compare with the first book I gave three stars. PI Sam Prichasrd takes fourteen-year-old girl as client. He must find her missing mother Tracy, who had been helping a blogger in trouble with police. Turns out the blogger inadvertantly took video of murders committed by Denver police. Prichard bumps along interviewing people, hiding the blogger, and oncovering corruption. People get shot. Sam is trapped, Sam escapes. Sam ferets out the location of the missing woman. There is a lack of description and little insight into the feelings, fears, and wants of the protagonist. The missing Tracy turns out to be a former lover of Sam. The author is good with coming up with a plausible plot, but fails to provide a story with the plot. Not my cup of tea. I found myself wanting the PI to have some strong feelings for the woman, to fear finding her as a risk to his marriage. Alas, such complexities are not found in this plot-but-no-story book.
Sam, Indie, Kenzie, kitty Samson, Grandma Grace, Grandma Kim and helpful spirit Beauregard are back in book eleven of the Sam Prichard series!
Kim tells Sam that Beauregard says he should take the next case. Beauregard says "there are three lives to be saved and only Sam can do it.” When Sam presses her for more information from Beauregard, she adds, ..."you’ll have a hard time figuring out who to believe. You’ll have to trust your own instincts, no matter how crazy you think they are.”
Fourteen-year old Heather Biggs comes to Sam and Indie to ask for their help in locating her mother, Tracy Jensen, who she believes has been abducted. The police, her father and stepfather all think she ran off with another man and no one will help her — they think Tracy was having an affair with a coworker, Martin Fletcher. Heather says her mother was worried about Marty and she was trying to help him, but they were not having an affair.
Tracy had told her daughter if anything happened to her, Heather was to go see Sam because he would help her. Tracy had said Sam should not trust anyone, even the police since they were involved. As it turns out, Sam knew Tracy — when she was Tracy Prentiss — they had been engaged to get married many years ago...
There were enough twists and turns — with a few surprises thrown in — to keep the reader interested from beginning to end. This book is better than some of this series has been and I am glad I took a gamble and decided to read it. Author David Archer outdoes himself in HIDDEN AGENDA!
If you love Sam Pritchard, you'll really enjoy him here. If you haven't met Sam yet, there's no better introduction. This series is superb but each book also stands well alone. An escape yarn that's well spun and fun with a hero who stands out by standing up for what's "right."
